Dr. Andrew J. Pollak, DACM

Licensed Acupuncturist · Board Certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine · Certified Zen Shiatsu Practitioner

Licensed acupuncturist and Zen Shiatsu practitioner specializing in pain relief, digestive health, hormonal balance, sleep quality, and nervous system regulation through a thoughtful blend of Chinese and Japanese acupuncture traditions.

In clinical practice, Dr. Andrew specializes in mental health and chronic pain management. Additional areas of focus include digestive disorders, headaches, sleep disorders, male reproductive health, and prenatal and postpartum support.

His treatment style is gentle yet deep, and both pediatric and adult treatments can be offered without needles for sensitive patients. In those cases, he may use tuning forks, shonishin, and/or teishin, which are non-insertive treatment tools.

In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Andrew practices Zen Shiatsu, a traditional Japanese meridian bodywork technique that uses focused pressure along energetic pathways to release tension, support circulation, and harmonize the body’s systems. Shiatsu sessions are performed fully clothed and offer a deeply restorative form of therapeutic bodywork.

Dr. Andrew translates Japanese case studies and research articles for the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine (NAJOM) and facilitates annual acupuncture study groups in Japan, where he interprets for his mentor, Dr. Katai Shuichi, and for visually impaired doctors at Tsukuba Technical University.

Since 2021, he has held faculty positions in herbal medicine, Zen Shiatsu instruction, and clinical supervision at several acupuncture schools, including Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) of Austin and the Colorado Chinese Medicine University (CCMU).

Women’s Health and Hormonal Balance
Acupuncture has long been used to support women’s health and hormonal regulation. Treatment may help with menstrual irregularities, PMS, fertility support, perimenopause, and menopause, as well as the physical and emotional shifts that can accompany hormonal change. Care is individualized and may include herbal medicine when appropriate.

Digestive Health
Digestive symptoms are often influenced by nervous system regulation, gut motility, and overall systemic balance. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help support digestive function and may be useful for concerns such as IBS, bloating, reflux, food sensitivities, and SIBO. Treatment may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, and supportive dietary guidance tailored to the individual.

Men’s Health and Hormonal Balance
Many men seek acupuncture for stress-related patterns, sleep issues, fatigue, digestive concerns, and support during hormonal or metabolic shifts. Treatment focuses on restoring nervous system balance, improving circulation, and supporting long-term vitality.

Pediatric and Needleless Acupuncture
Some people prefer a lighter approach. Gentle treatment options, including needle-free techniques when appropriate, are available. Pediatric acupuncture is carefully tailored to each child’s age, constitution, and comfort, using tuning forks and a needle-free Japanese pediatric approach called shonishin. Comfort, consent, and a calm, steady experience are prioritized at every step.
