Private Pilates Sessions in Boulder
Private Pilates shaped by experience, observation, and a deep understanding of the body.
Private Pilates at Boulder Bodyworks offers an individualized approach grounded in experienced teaching, careful observation, and a strong foundation in biomechanics. Founded in 1999, Boulder Bodyworks has supported the Boulder community with movement instruction and hands-on care for more than 25 years.
Many people begin private Pilates to improve posture, relieve back pain, support balance and bone health, or return more fully to movement after injury. Others are looking for a thoughtful place to begin, or for a more experienced and individualized approach.
Pilates instructors at Boulder Bodyworks are movement educators with decades of experience and a strong foundation in biomechanics. No prior Pilates experience is needed.
Benefits of Private Pilates
Private sessions create the time and space for careful observation, individualized teaching, and a deeper understanding of how your body moves. Rather than following a fixed sequence, each session is tailored to your needs, strengths, and areas of vulnerability.
This one-on-one setting allows for greater precision, clearer feedback, and a more responsive approach to movement. You will often develop a stronger sense of connection to breath, alignment, and support while gaining greater ease, stability, and confidence in daily life.
Intro to Pilates 3-Session Package
The Intro to Pilates 3-Session Package offers a supportive introduction to the method and equipment while helping you address your individual needs, connect more fully to breath and movement, and establish a strong foundation for future work.
Additional Approaches within Pilates
Pilates sessions and classes at Boulder Bodyworks may incorporate additional movement education approaches when appropriate.
The Franklin Method
Principles from the Franklin Method may be incorporated into private Pilates sessions and classes when appropriate. The Franklin Method is a movement education approach that uses imagery and experiential anatomy to support posture, coordination, and greater ease in movement.
Franklin Method principles may be incorporated into Pilates teaching by Reneé Beshures, Tambre Rasmussen, and Rende Brockwell
Fascial Movement in Pilates
Some private Pilates sessions and classes incorporate fascial movement principles when appropriate. This approach, taught by Tanja London, emphasizes the health and responsiveness of the body’s connective tissue system.
This work supports smoother tissue movement, improves elasticity, and encourages more integrated whole-body coordination.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first session begins with a conversation about what brings you in, your movement history, and any injuries or physical concerns. That conversation shapes everything that follows.
From there you will move, learning the fundamental principles of breath, alignment, and intelligent movement. Your instructor will observe how your body moves, introduce you to the equipment, and begin to help you understand the patterns most relevant to your practice. Education is part of every session. You will leave with a clearer sense of your body and how it moves than when you arrived.
Sessions are 55 minutes. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Bare feet or grip socks are recommended.
